Behind a router or other physical firewall?
If you need a firewall for vista the comodo one is best I think. They also have a suite which includes antivirus (not sure how great their AV is), and Spyware defense (works good) Some people like to just install the firewall+spyware part (you can pick which ones to install when you run the setup, and then they install avira for the antivirus.
that's if you want free ones. best is comodo firewall+avira antivirus. I am lazy though so just installed the whole comodo suite.

go with F-secure for the antivirus(got a software firewall also in it) But best bet is to go with a hardware firewall most routers and modems got them now days so you probobly already got 1.

i am not sure how to set it up on the D-link i have it is wireless you usaly login onto the router using the normal internet brower for example 192.168.0.1 should say under the modem what the ip and default login/pass is .. or in the manual
